Professor Geoffrey Bolton AO

Historian, academic and writer

2006 WA Australian of the Year

Dr Bolton is one of Australia's most eminent historians and socio-political commentators. His contribution to the community as a professional academic and a communicator of ideas has been outstanding. He is the author of 13 books and has contributed to many more. Geoffrey is a frequent guest on the ABC, bringing Western Australian history to life and raising awareness, at many levels of society, of the importance of our past. He is an engaging speaker who is willing to go anywhere at any time to discover or explain what it is that has made us what we are. Although he is officially retired, as Chancellor of Murdoch University he still lives and breathes his work and continues to play an invaluable role in linking the University with the community that supports it. His national and international reputation as a scholar reflects wonderfully on all Australians.
