Who will you nominate for the 2021 Australian of the Year Awards?
Drought, fires, flooding rains and COVID-19 have challenged our nation recently – now it’s time to celebrate the people who make Australia a better place, to thank those doing good things in our community and recognise those achieving greatness.
Many everyday Australians have made extraordinary contributions during the unprecedented challenges our nation has faced this year. Who are the individuals you’ve been inspired by or who have made you proud in the past year? Who inspires you to reflect, respect and celebrate what it means to be Australian?
Nominations for the 2021 Australian of the Year Awards are currently open and it’s time for you to nominate someone you admire for the titles of Australian of the Year, Senior Australian of the Year, Young Australian of the Year and Australia’s Local Hero.
Nominating is easy and can be done online at australianoftheyear.org.au.
Nominations will close at midnight 31 July 2020.
National Australia Day Council CEO Ms Karlie Brand said nominating someone for the Awards helped share the many stories of inspiration among us.
“There are always so many people doing amazing things in our country,” said Ms Brand.
“This year, perhaps more than any other since the awards began in 1960, we’ve seen Australians overcome many adversities, help each other in times of crisis and carry out acts of bravery, leadership and kindness on a daily basis.
“It only takes one nomination for someone to be considered for the awards, but a nomination must be submitted for a person in order for them to be in the running. No matter how well known someone may be, a public nomination must be submitted before they can be considered for the awards.
“Help us find our nation’s most inspiring people for the 2021 Australian of the Year Awards – nominate someone now.”
